Welcome to the Medstar Emergency Medical Technician Course Application process.
Thank you for starting the application process for our upcoming EMT course.
Please read the following carefully. Your application cannot be accepted until all required steps below are completed, and submitted.
Here is what you can expect during the application process, course, and after the course:
Cost: The cost of the course is waived if you sign a Tuition Advancement Promissory Note. This document will be emailed to you once you complete the application form.
Pre-Course Documents: You must submit a clear copy of your valid drivers license with your application. If your application does not have a copy of your drivers’ license attached, it will be considered incomplete. All applications must be completed to be considered for acceptance into the EMT program.
- You are required to submit a Valid Michigan Driver's License
- You are required to submit a high school diploma / GED
- You are required to sign a Tuition Advancement Promissory Note
- You must supply a complete copy of your immunization records
After the EMT course candidate submits all the required documents, Medstar will initiate a background and driving records check to determine the candidate's eligibility. Eligible candidates will be notified via email once the process is complete and eligibility has been verified.
EMT Course Requirements:
- Students are also required to complete 36 hours of EMS clinicals at Medstar locations. These clinicals are outside of classroom hours.
- You will be provided a clinical shirt. Once you have completed the application process you will receive a link to provide your shirt size. You will need a black pair of pants and acceptable clinical shoes.
- At the end of the course, you will complete an application to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians test.
Course Completion: Once you have successfully met all course requirements you will receive a course completion certificate. We will then schedule you for the National Registry EMT computer based adaptive test. Testing centers are located throughout the state, we will schedule as close to home as possible. You must successfully complete this test to be eligible to apply for an EMT license with the State of Michigan. The cost for the test and license is covered by Medstar if you have signed a Tuition Advancement Promissory Note.
