Welcome to Your Path Into Emergency Medical Services!

The Medstar EMT Training Program is designed for people who are ready to begin a career in emergency medical services and want a direct path into full-time employment. This is a comprehensive, hands-on EMT program that combines classroom instruction, skills labs, ambulance clinical experience, and employment with Medstar when finished.

Program Overview

The EMT Training Program is a 16-week course that prepares students to take the National Registry  exam and move directly into full-time employment with Medstar.

The program includes:

  • Classroom-based instruction
  • Hands-on skills labs
  • Ambulance clinical experience
  • Preparation for EMT licensure
  • Job placement upon licensure

How to Apply

Applicants must be 18 years of age by course's end, complete the application, tuition agreement, and upload a valid driver’s license (with acceptable driving record), diploma, or GED.  Background check, driving history, and drug screening are required. 

You will need a digital copy (clear photos are acceptable) of all required documents to upload in the applicaiton.

What Happens After the Course

After successfully completing the course and passing the EMT licensure exam:

  • You will be considered for immediate full-time employment as an EMT 
  • You will enter a structured onboarding and field training process
  • You will begin working in one of Michigan’s largest and most clinically diverse EMS agencies.

  • Paramedic training at no cost
